Following a brief part-time stint with the department of Biology, Petie started full-time at UNC in 1987, assisting both the JMC and COMM departments, and has remained with them ever since. She served on the SPEEC council for two years and was on the Event Planning, Scholarship, Yard Sale and Classified Employee for Term committees. Working for both departments has been challenging at times, but she enjoys the faculty and students. Before coming to UNC, Petie ran a day care in her home for 10 years. She loves yard work, reading, working on model trains, and John Wayne movies, but her family is the most important thing in her life.
