Director

Joonok Huh, Director of the School of English Language and Literature, received her B.A. in English from Ewha Women’s University in Seoul, Korea, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in English and Women’s Studies from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana.

Partly because of her first-hand experience of “being in transit,” she promotes cultural diversity and global identity both inside and outside the classroom.  She believes the constant dynamic shifts necessitated by our time—shifts between private and public, moral and legal, local and global—inform our curriculum and our education.

She teaches and has published in American literature, women’s literature, and Asian American literature.
