[Bruce Campbell’s “Temptation” 2005]

Temptation
Bruce Campbell
Acrylic on metal, 2005

Bruce Campbell lives and works on a farm near Longmont, Colorado. He finds beauty and usefulness in objects that were once used by others and later discarded. Temptation was completed by applying acrylic to the surface of an old metal tabletop. By artistically salvaging artifacts from vanishing historic Americana, Campbell allows new imagery to emerge from material objects that had been consigned to deterioration. From this contrast between an old function and a new vision, Campbell’s work embraces the cycle of decay and rebirth, the richness of human diversity, and the boundless capacity of humans to imagine and invent.
